Victims are sent a fake check to pay for their purchases, but are later told they were overpaid.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — Police in Snohomish are warning residents about a new mystery shopper scam.

According to the Daily Herald, victims are sent an invitation to become a mystery shopper.

They're sent a fake check to pay for their purchases, but are later told they were overpaid.

Victims are then asked to pay the difference and are promised that a package would arrive in the mail.

Anyone who thinks they are a victim should call police.
