Naked woman, 19, still missing in forest

A naked 19-year-old woman who went into the woods with only a fanny pack is still missing, and authorities were searching for her Tuesday.

Maureen Kelly, of Vancouver, said she was leaving Sunday on a spiritual quest into the Canyon Creek area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and hasn’t been seen since. The area is steep with heavy timber and brush.

The Skamania County sheriff's office says searchers with dogs searched until dark Monday. Kelly was reported missing Monday when a friend said she failed to return to the Canyon Creek Campground.

She left about 5 p.m. Sunday and had a compass and knife in her fanny pack. Search operations have been set up at the Forest Service Chelatchie Prairie facility in Amboy.
