Eastbound I-94 near Sprinkle Road in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, was closed Thursday morning after a box truck struck emergency vehicles that were responding to a rollover crash.
The Comstock Fire Department and Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office were on the scene of the initial crash when a 24-foot box truck lost control.
The truck hit three Comstock Fire vehicles and a Kalamazoo County Sheriff cruiser before rolling over and coming to a stop.
“There’s a lot of damage to the fire equipment,” Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller said. “One of our police cruisers has received a pretty good amount of damage. In the end, we’re just happy that no people were hurt.”
No injuries were reported from the original rollover crash or the subsequent collision.
First responders on the scene were uninjured.
However, the driver of the box truck sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital.
“Everyone appears to be unhurt, rattled maybe a little bit, but the good thing is you get to go home from being rattled,” Fuller said.
