New app to speed customs process in use at Sea-Tac Airport

Sea-Tac Airport is the third airport in the U.S. to use the Mobile Passport app.

SEATAC, Wash. — A new app being unveiled Thursday is aimed to help air travelers at Sea-Tac get through customs quicker.

Sea-Tac Airport will be the third airport in the U.S. to use the Mobile Passport app and process to help speed the customs entry process for U.S. and Canadian citizens.

The app can be downloaded for free in a mobile device’s app store, and travelers entering the United States will be able to enter all of their information into their smartphone.

It replaces the required traditional paper declaration form and allows users to skip the line at the airport.   It is not a replacement for one’s passport.

Border Protection officials will give a demonstration of how the app works at Sea-Tac Airport Thursday morning.

It’s also in use at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and Miami International Airport.
