SEATTLE — A new King County water taxi that launched from West Seattle Thursday should make commuting to the city easier.
The new boat holds 131 more passengers than the old one, the Spirit of Kingston.

The larger capacity is important because ridership on the route from west Seattle to Colman Dock in Seattle continues to grow, up 11 percent year over year.
The new taxi, named the Doc Maynard, carries 278 passengers.
It has more bike space and better viewing opportunity for passengers to take in the scenery during the trip.
Last year, the west Seattle route served more than 313,000 passengers.
