NHL player faces charges for killing bear in B.C.

BRITISH COLUMBIA — An NHL player is facing five charges for killing a grizzly bear in British Columbia.

Anaheim Ducks player and B.C.-born Clayton Stoner is accused of shooting a 5-year-old bear known as “Cheeky” near Bella Coola along the B.C. coast.

The Vancouver Sun reports Stoner carried the bear's head and paws past a sign that declared trophy hunting closed.

People in the area said the grizzly was skinned and left to rot in a field.
