14 people ousted from trash-filled nuisance property in Monroe

MONROE, Wash. — Monroe police wearing protective suits evicted 14 people from a nuisance property where they were serving a search warrant Wednesday.

Officers said it took an hour for all of the occupants either in the home or a trailer on the property in the 500 block of South Blakeley to exit the property. All 14 people received a trespass notice and the city placed no trespassing signs on the property, which is in pre-foreclosure.

Officers entered the home, which had no connected utilities, to find human waste throughout as well as in the backyard. Multiple windows and doors were broken, all the fixtures had been removed and trash was strewn across the property. Officers also found drug paraphernalia.

Two people on the property were turned over to the Department of Corrections on felony warrants. A third was released to the Redmond Police Department on a misdemeanor warrant.

The rest of the people were offered services, a bag of food, blankets and transportation.
