Bad weather Sunday forced rescuers to suspend the search for two hikers in Snohomish County.

The search and rescue unit and volunteers were called to the Pacific Crest Trail area near the county border with Chelan County after an emergency beacon was triggered by one of two hikers in the area on Saturday. The beacon was activated near Indian Pass.

The hikers are men in their 20s, one from Ohio and the other from Tennessee. Both are believed to be members of the PKT True Hikers.

Search and rescue members hiked in an attempt to reach the hikers but were hampered by avalanche danger and communication issues due to the terrain and distance.

The teams returned Sunday and will resume the search Monday morning once a better route has been identified.

The weather and location has prevented an air search.
