A black bear was spotted in the suburbs of Snohomish County Wednesday morning, according to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and Snohomish County Parks & Recreation, the bear was spotted near the Cathcart and Silver Firs area, around Puget Park Drive and 134th Place Southeast.
According to the Everett Herald, the bear was seen in the parking lot of a Safeway. Snohomish County Parks & Recreation also reported a sighting on Wednesday morning at Willis Tucker Park.
Witnesses have told officials the bear may have been injured on its backend or back leg. The Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife later confirmed that they believe it’s “likely” the bear was hit by a car at some point, but “is mobile and appears to be healing.”
Fish & Wildlife police saw the bear return to a “large forested greenbelt” on Wednesday evening, but have posted signs to warn locals as they continue to keep an eye out just in case.
If you see the bear, do not approach the bear or attempt to disrupt the bear.
