MARYSVILLE, Wash. — Marysville police say the driver of a car was killed early Tuesday morning after crashing into a freight train that dragged it nearly a mile before coming to a stop.
Investigators tell KIRO 7 the car was heading south on State Avenue around 2:30 a.m. when the driver went off the road, over a grassy area and crashed into the northbound train around 88th Street NE.
The train dragged the car to 104th Street NE, where it became dislodged.

Police said it’s too early to say why the driver veered off the road. The name of the driver who died hasn’t been released.
An alarm alerted the train conductor that something was being dragged and the train stopped. No one on the train was hurt, according to BNSF.
The freight train blocked 104th St. NE and 116th St. NE for several hours but has since moved.
