Dramatic rescue: Coast Guard rescues child, two adults from grounded boat on Camano Island

CAMANO ISLAND, Wash. — Three people including a child are back safely on solid ground after needing to be rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard from a grounded boat in Camano Island.

On Saturday afternoon, watchstanders from the Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound called in a helicopter crew to help since the boat went aground next to steep terrain.

The terrain made it difficult for local fire crews to reach them from land.

The helicopter crew had to fly in rain with winds at 25 mph and gusts of 40 mph.

A video shared by the USCG shows a rescue diver being lowered followed by a roped basket.

The USCG first brought up a 12-year-old and took the child to Paine Field Airport to be checked out by paramedics.

The helicopter then refueled and returned to grab the two adults and the diver.

The adults were also checked out by EMS at Paine Field Airport.
