Driver killed in I-5 head-on crash near Burlington

BURLINGTON, Wash. — Troopers are investigating a fatal head-on crash on Interstate 5 near Burlington Friday evening.

The crash happened in the northbound lanes at Bow Hill Road, north of Burlington.

Troopers said a vehicle in the southbound lanes crossed the grass median and crashed head-on into a box truck in the northbound lanes.

The driver of the vehicle was killed.

The driver the of the truck had no injuries.

Troopers said it is unknown why the vehicle crossed the median.

The crash caused about a six mile backup.

Both lanes of NB I-5 at Bow Hill Road reopened.
