A 24-year-old man was taken into custody after investigators say he allegedly stabbed and killed his father Thursday morning.
At 2:41 a.m., officers received a call at the station call box from a man who wanted to report he had committed a “premeditated homicide,” according to police.
When officers contacted the man, he told them he had just stabbed his father and walked to the police station to report it, investigators said.
Officers went to the home and found a 64-year-old man, who neighbors identified Thursday night as Steve Fry, with multiple stab wounds inside. Fry died at the scene.
Neighbors said Fry was kind, friendly and a longtime resident of the neighborhood.
Fry's son was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder. The stabbing is being investigated as a domestic violence incident.
Investigators said in previous contacts with the suspect, his family had reported he had a history of mental illness.
Neighbors said Fry had been trying very hard to help him.
