Everett officer hit by car amid crashes on icy roads

EVERETT, Wash. — An Everett police officer was struck by a car during his first week of training Wednesday morning during a series of crashes on icy roads.

The rookie officer and another officer were at SR 526 and Seaway Boulevard in Everett to investigate a collision shortly after 7 a.m.

The officers were outside the patrol car getting traffic vests when a driver behind them was unable to stop and rear-ended the patrol car and struck the student officer.

The officer in training ended up on the hood of the car and was transported to the hospital with hip and wrist injuries, according to Everett police.

The other officer and the driver who struck the student officer were not hurt.

At least four cars were involved in the crashes at the scene.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said there were more than a dozen crashes on icy roads in the county Wednesday morning.
