KIRO 7 talked to a man who jumped in the middle of a stabbing at the Alderwood Mall to save the victim.

Though the Good Samaritan walked away with some injuries, he said if he had to do it all over again, he would.

The stabbing happened at 2 p.m. Sunday when the Lynnwood mall was crowded with people.

“Everybody started screaming and people were running. I looked over and there was two guys fighting on the ground,” said Jonathan Gover, a former member of the Navy.

That’s that Gover got between the two men.

“So I ran over and grabbed the guy who was on top and put him in a rear naked choke,” said Gover. "I told the (suspect) to relax. Calm down. And he said that he was relaxed. He said the other guy attacked him, he was just defending himself and then he handed me a knife,” said Gover.

The victim, a food court employee at a Gyro restaurant, was taken to Harborview Medical Center with a critical injury.

Police said a 37-year-old customer became irate and began stabbing him.

Gover has 11 stitches on his calf after he was wounded during the fight.

The stabbing is the second stabbing that’s happened at the mall.

A man was stabbed on Christmas Eve trying to break up a fight between men who were arguing over a drug debt.
