Pilot dies in plane crash in Marysville

MARYSVILLE, Wash. — The pilot of an experimental plane died when the aircraft crashed in a large field in Marysville.

Marysville police and firefighters responded just before 7 p.m. Wednesday at 1601 51st Ave. NE.

Investigators said the pilot was the only person on board.

KIRO 7 spoke to a witness who heard something around the time the plane went down.

"I live in the flight line and I see a lot of planes every day," Cody Woodward said. "I was just sitting in my front yard and I heard the engine of a plane pop really loud and then it revved really high and then, like, an hour later I saw on my phone that there was a plane crash."

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
