SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said it’s investigating a shooting Sunday evening that happened after two cars collided near 124th Street Southwest and 8th Avenue West near South Everett.

Deputies said the shooting victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. The shooter has not been arrested.

The shooting was reported just after 7 p.m. Deputies said there were at least four people in the cars involved in the crash – all of them, including the victim, ran from the scene.

The shooting victim tried to get a ride to the hospital from a stranger in a nearby apartment complex, according to deputies, but was denied. Cellphone video shared with KIRO 7 showed the victim being treated by medics on a sidewalk.

Investigators said it’s not yet clear why the shooting happened. It’s also not clear if the people in the two cars knew each other.

The victim, and a man who was with him at the time of the shooting in a burgundy car, were not cooperating with detectives Sunday, deputies said. Video captured by KIRO 7 showed several bullet holes across the car.

Neighbors told KIRO 7 they heard at least six gunshots. Deputies said Sunday a weapon was not recovered.

Officers said they swarmed the neighborhood near south Everett with K-9s, but were not able to find the two people who ran from the second car involved in the crash, a gray Infinity.

At this point in the investigation, deputies believe the gunfire came from one car and was not returned by people in the second car.
