The Washington State Animal Response Team said it received a call about the 50-pound English bulldog, named Flint, who needed to be rescued in Arlington on Wednesday.

The team was summoned with the knowledge that it would be a somewhat technical operation, using ropes and anchors, to bring the dog back up.

Since it was the middle of a work day and most of the team were at their jobs, they called Snohomish County Search and Rescue, which sent a team, including a member of Everett Mountain Rescue, to help, along with a Snohomish County deputy.

Once all team members arrived, a plan of action was discussed, and setup was completed.

Two people were lowered over the cliff.  They quickly found Flint and saw he didn’t have obvious injuries such as fractures that would require him to be put onto a litter.

So rescuers put Flint into a harness, clipped the harness to the rope system, and held him as they were all raised back up.

Flint was reunited with his family at the top and refreshed himself with some water.
