CLALLAM BAY, Wash. — An officer at the Clallam Bay Corrections Center was seriously assaulted by an inmate on Monday afternoon.
Officials said the incident was one-on-one and not a group attack.
The officer suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries -- and was taken to a local medical facility for treatment.
The officer was in the hospital as of Wednesday night, under observation.
Officials with the Department of Corrections say the officer is expected to survive.
The facility went into lockdown during the incident.
The inmate has been transferred to the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton.
