Puyallup, WASH. — One man is dead and another is in custody after a deadly dispute in a Puyallup Motel early Saturday morning.
Puyallup police say they responded to the Northwest Motor Inn at 1409 South Meridian St. at 4:53 a.m. Saturday for reports of a shooting and found a deceased 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The suspect, a 25-year-old man, had left the scene in a vehicle but returned while officers were investigating, police say.
Puyallup police say initial investigation points to a dispute over narcotics in a motel room where several people had gathered.
Several witnesses and the suspect were taken to the police station for further questioning.
One lane of northbound South Meridian Street was closed for several hours while the Puyallup Police Department's Major Crimes Unit and Special Investigations Unit were investigating but has since reopened.
