One person escapes northeast Tacoma house fire

The occupant in the house got out safely.

One person escaped a burning home during an early morning fire in northeast Tacoma Thursday.

Flames were shooting from the side of the home in the 5000 block of 40th Street Northeast at 2:40 a.m.

Firefighters quickly put out the flames and kept the fire from spreading to the garage, saving a classic car from damage.

The home has heavy damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
