LAKEWOOD, Wash. — Twelve-year-old Kail Findlay says when a strange man with long hair and a beard tried to get him into his car outside Wood Brook middle school Friday, he knew he needed to get away as quickly as possible.

“He tells me to come with him and I’m like, no way!” said Findlay.

Findlay’s mother Sonja Findlay-Icenogger said when she arrived to pick her son up at the school he was terrified.

“He was crying, my first thought was somebody beat him up,” said Findlay-Icenogger, “and he said no somebody tried to kidnap me and I was like, what?”

Lakewood police say Patrick Huber, 59, tried to lure the 12-year -old into his car as he left a dance at Wood Brook Middle School around 5:30 p.m. Friday.

When Findlay ran away, investigators say Huber went back to his apartment complex where he tried to lure a 4-year-old boy and 9-year-old girl, telling them to come into his house.

They also refused to go with him.

Police responding to the incident at Wood Brook got a call from the nearby complex where they found Huber and took him into custody.

According to a news release from the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Huber told police, “that he fantasized about “beautiful little girls” and wanted to touch the female victim’s privates.”

Huber pleaded not guilty to charges of luring in Pierce County Superior Court on Monday and was ordered held on $300,000 bail.
