KENT, Wash. — Multiple police surrounded a Kent motel because of a standoff with a man.
Video from Chopper 7 showed numerous police vehicles outside the Golden Kent Motel at 22206 84th Avenue South.
Pat Lowery with Kent police said officers were serving an arrest warrant on a man staying at the motel around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
When officers contacted the man, he shut the door of his room and refused to come out.
As a precaution, rooms on both sides of the man were evacuated.
About an hour later, officers broke out the room's window, deployed pepper spray into the room, and then rammed open the door. The man was taken into custody.
In additon to outstanding warrants, the man was arrested in an earlier assault on a woman and resisting arrest.
The victim is at Auburn General Hospital.
