Near three-way tie for Commissioner of Public Lands, where only top 2 move on to Nov. general

The Commissioner of Public Lands office has been held by Hilary Franz (D) since she was elected in 2016, and she will step down from the position this year. The position is elected every four years, overseeing the Washington Department of Natural Resources and environmental protection in the state.

After votes were counted when polls closed Tuesday night, there was a practical three-way tie in the Primary, where only the top 2 will move on.

The choice between Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, Rep. Sue Kuehl Pederson, and Dem. Dave Upthegrove is a race that is too close to call.
