Baumgartner, Conroy on to the general in Nov. for District 5

Two long-time Representatives are not running for reelection, so their seats are open.

In Eastern Washington, a number of Republicans are looking to succeed Cathy McMorris Rogers.

It will be the first time in two decades there has been someone else in the seat.

Among Republicans, Michael Baumgardner is the current top fundraiser.

On the Democratic side, Carmela Conroy is the leading fundraiser.

If a Democrat wins in November, it will be the first time since 1995.

The Associated Press called the primary for Rep. Michael Baumgartner and Dem. Carmela Conroy, and they will move on to the general election in November.

Tuesday night, after polls closed, Rep. Michael Baumgartner held a comfortable lead for the first of the two names on the general election ballot. He released a short statement Tuesday thanking Eastern Washington and that he’s on to November.

Dem. Conroy has not released a statement, as of 11:07 p.m. Tuesday night.
