Port Orchard man in 4chan killing now charged with jail assault

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. — A Port Orchard man accused of killing his girlfriend and then posting gruesome pictures of the crime scene on 4chan.org is now charged with assault.

The Kitsap Sun reports David Kalac used a piece of cardboard to keep his cell door from locking, entered a rival inmate's cell, pulled him off his bunk and stomped on the man's head.

The inmate was able to call for help Dec. 9 by pushing an emergency button in the cell. The victim suffered bruises and cuts.

Investigators said the victim was a friend of Kalac's girlfriend, who prosecutors said Kalac killed because he thought she was cheating on him.

Kalac has pleaded not guilty to a first-degree murder charge in the death of Amber Lynn Coplin. She was found dead Nov. 4 at their apartment in Port Orchard. He was arrested in Oregon.

Kalac is set to be back in court next week.
