SEATTLE — The 12th Man rushed to get their hands on Seahawks playoff tickets Tuesday, but, as expected, they sold out within minutes.
Some fans teamed up, using as many as five devices in an attempt to get the coveted tickets.
The Seahawks will play the first NFC playoff game against the Panthers, Cardinals or Lions at CenturyLink Field Jan. 10 at 5:15 p.m.
Thousands of fans were at their computers when Seahawks playoff tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster. Some 12s said they planned to make several attempts every second to get through the website.
Sales were limited to two tickets per person.
Last year, many fans were among the thousands trying to get tickets, only to walk away disappointed when they were sold out in minutes. Some fans were convinced no tickets were actually sold on Ticketmaster's website.
"My strategy this year is someone to call, someone on a laptop, and myself on my iPad -- fingers crossed," said Michelle Farafontoff, who was preparing for the sale.
Before the tickets were officially on sale, seats were already available on the secondary market. One seller on Stubhub is asking $2,200 for a place to stand.
KIRO 7 ran some numbers to try to figure out how many tickets were up for grabs. The stadium fits about 68,500 fans. Ninety-eight percent of season ticket holders already claimed playoff tickets, leaving about 6,700 tickets.
But 3,000 to 4,000 fans on the season ticket wait list were given the option to buy playoff tickets Monday.
That means 3,000 tickets or fewer were actually on sale on Ticketmaster.
