OCEAN SHORES, Wash. — The U.S. Coast Guard said that crews started searching for 18-year-old Paul Alimoren at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
As of noon Sunday, the U.S. Coast Guard told KIRO 7 it suspended the search for Alimoren.
Ocean Shores police said that five of the teens that were initially caught in the rip tide were able to get to shore with little trouble.
Two others that barely made it back to shore were treated the scene.
Ocean Shores police said Alimoren helped two of his friends get back to shore before getting swept back out to sea.
Officers say the church group was visiting from California.
Alimoren was from Pomona, Calif.
