Seattle restaurant giving away free Christmas dinner for ‘those in need'

SEATTLE — In a continued holiday tradition, a Seattle Thai restaurant is opening its doors to the hungry on Christmas.

"If you know someone who would not be able to have a festive dinner of Christmas Day, Thai Siam Restaurant would like to extend our invitation to a free turkey dinner," says a flier that is circulating on social media.

Thai Siam, in north Seattle, is preparing to feed hundreds. Last year it gave out 800 meals on Christmas: around 400 in the restaurant and the rest out on the street.

Friends and family help deliver the meals on Christmas.

"[It's] been our family tradition since 1988. This is our 29th year of doing this," said Thai Siam manager Ott Pinbang.

“Every year when we do them, it’s a good feeling that we can give back, because everyone here is supporting [the cause].”

On Reddit, where the flier surfaced on Sunday, many users said they applaud the restaurant for giving back.

Thai Siam is accepting donations ahead of the holiday. If you would like to donate, call  206-784-5465.
