SEATTLE, Wash. — Several hair stylists are out of a job this week after getting fired from their downtown Seattle hair salon, SEVEN Salon, via a text message.
“SEVEN regrets to inform you that our Seattle Salon & Educational Academy has ceased operations,” the text begins. “We have closed for business reasons.”
Ouch.
Former SEVEN stylist Caroline Langevin told KIRO 7 that the salon, located in the Pacific Place Mall, didn’t breathe a word about the closure until sending the text.
"Do you break up with someone over text?" Langevin asked. "I wouldn't. That's just rude."
The text message was sent at about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. An estimated 50 stylists are now unemployed.
The text told the stylists that they could retrieve their personal belongings from the store on Monday and Tuesday.

Seven Salon bills itself on line as having been voted Best Salon by Seattle magazine, calling itself a nationally recognized hair salon.
Former clients are being instructed to go to SEVEN’s Bellevue location instead.
Former stylists do not have immediate access to their clients, but have created a Facebook page to re-connect with former customers.
