OCEAN SHORES, Wash. — A shrimp boat with a possible 3,000 gallons of fuel on board is sinking near Ocean Shores, the Washington Department of Ecology says.
Three people were rescued from the 74-foot fishing vessel. The Washington Department of Ecology says the captain of the vessel is in the hospital.
There did not appear to be any spillage as of noon Saturday.
Pollution responders from Coast Guard Incident Management Division Astoria, Ore., are working with personnel from Washington Dept. of Ecology to coordinate the defueling and salvaging.
A salvage crew was expected to recover the vessel Saturday evening, but has been delayed due to tide and safety concerns, the Washington Department of Ecology says.
The department says they will continue to monitor the vessel closely.
