CARNATION, Wash. — People living along the banks of the Snoqualmie River in eastern King County were evacuated after residents saw their homes turn into waterfront properties.
Early Tuesday morning, the Snoqualmie River crested 5 and a half feet above flood stage.
In Carnation and Fall City, roads were closed, basements flooded, cars had to drive through water and people left their homes.

Some of them were relieved to find there had been some improvement overnight.
“The marker in the backyard went down a foot in the last hour and a half, so I'm still highly on edge but I'm easing up right now,” said homeowner J. J.
The Snoqualmie River reaches major flood stage at around 58 feet. It's been there since Monday afternoon and was running at a flow of 59.5 feet Tuesday morning.
Though the river has crested, the threat of flooding is not over.
The Snoqualmie is expected to be at some flood level until Tuesday night.
