MASON COUNTY, Wash. — A 29-year-old woman was injured and her twin sister is on the run after abandoning the car in a suspected DUI crash on SR 300 in Mason County on Sunday evening, Washington State Patrol said.
The crash happened about 7:30 p.m. near Larson Lake Road in Belfair.
The sisters were in a car headed westbound on SR 300 when it left the roadway to the right, hitting a tree twice before resting in the road.
The driver fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. The passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The incident is being investigated as vehicular assault. Investigators believe the driver was impaired and that speed was a factor.
The road was blocked for nearly four hours Sunday while troopers investigated.
