TACOMA, Wash. — While the doors to a Tacoma building were shattered, thieves were unsuccessful at removing their target.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, officers were dispatched to 1100 A Street about a possible burglary.

Officers arrived to find the front door to the location had been shattered.

Once inside, officers saw that the burglars had tried to steal the ATM but failed. Photos from Tacoma police showed the burglars had wrapped a tow strap around the machine in an apparent attempt to pull it out of the building, but the ATM remained in place, still plugged in.

Afterward, the property managers called the Tacoma Police Department to thank the officers for helping secure their facility, saying it was much more than they expected, and they felt the need to say thank you to the officers again, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.
