ORTING, Wash. — Multiple crews responded to a fire at Orting High School Thursday morning.
Orting Valley Fire and Rescue said the first units to arrive confirmed a fire was burning at the school on Washington Avenue North and Ammons Lane Northeast.
Zane Gibson from Orting fire said the fire was in the HVAC area. He said the gym was mainly affected.
Crews from Orting, Graham, Central Pierce and East Pierce fire departments responded.
At 5:44 a.m., Orting fire said the fire was out and crews were being released.
Every school in the district will be two hours late because of the integrated bus system. There is no morning preschool or breakfast.
There is no word on what started the fire.
