Man and girlfriend guilty after she tells of repeatedly raping boy in Parkland

PARKLAND, Wash. — A Parkland man who, along with his girlfriend, repeatedly raped a 12-year-old boy at a mobile home park was convicted by a jury Thursday.

Shawn Morgan, 45, was found guilty on five counts of first-degree child rape and five counts of first-degree child molestation.

His girlfriend, Kiera Hall, 27, pleaded guilty in September to three counts of first-degree child rape and one count of first-degree child molestation.

Authorities learned of the sexual abuse last year after Hall went to a rehabilitation center and told a counselor that she and Morgan sexually abused the boy and watched child pornography together.

The boy told police he didn’t like Morgan or Hall because they “did drugs and a lot of other things,” according to charging papers.

Hall said the abuse took place from June 2014 to September 2015.

In a letter to the court, the boy’s mother said he is “traumatized.”

“He acts out in school, he can’t be around his sister unattended, and he’s always sad and acts out in rage sometimes,” she wrote.

The jury deliberated less than a day before finding Morgan guilty. He faces 20 to 26 years to life in prison when sentenced Feb. 23.
