FIFE, Wash. — The family of a 17-year-old Todd Beamer High School senior, whose body was found in a Fife parking lot days before prom, wants answers and justice in the teen’s murder.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office said Tuesday that Cameron Wilson was shot in the chest and his death ruled a homicide.
"Good kid, not a gangbanger,” said his mother Rochelle Wilson in an interview with KIRO 7. “Very, very intelligent.”
Rochelle and family members met KIRO 7 Tuesday in the Domino’s Pizza parking lot near Willow Road and Pacific Highway East where Fife police said the teen was found dead around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
"He was looking forward to prom, he was looking to go to college,” said his sister Tyeisha Taylor. “He was looking forward to his whole life in front of him.”
Cameron was set to graduate next month.
The Federal Way Public Schools said the school district will work with his family to honor the his accomplishments towards a diploma.
Fife police are now searching for Cameron’s shooter and have not yet released a motive in the homicide. Chief Pete Fisher told KIRO 7 Tuesday that additional information may be released later this week.
No arrests have been made.
Wilson’s family said the teen, who lived in Fife, had attended a BBQ Sunday. They said he returned home early in the evening before going back to the BBQ and that was the last time they saw him alive.
"I can't walk,” said Rochelle Wilson. “It's like my soul, my inner being has been completely snatched out of me; like my world is gone."
Fife police said 12 minutes before the teen’s body was reportedly found in the parking lot, they’d received a call about a single gunshot heard nearby in the 1300 block of Willow Road, but found nothing when officers showed up to investigate.
"We've been told conflicting stories,” said Wilson’s brother Brandon Taylor.
The family wants someone to come forward with information that can provide answers as to what happened to the 17-year-old.
"Tell us what happened to him that evening,” said Taylor.
The family also wants justice for the murder of their loved one.
"I just bought his first suit for prom,” said Wilson. “Now I got to bury him in it."
