THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — Residents who live near Summit Lake and depend on its water are being warned to take extra precautions.
According to a Wednesday release by Thurston County Emergency Management, a gas-powered ski boat sank and a sheen of gas is visible on the surface of the lake, which is at 603 Summit Lake Shore Drive.
Residents are being warned not to use the lake’s water for drinking or household uses until more information is made available.
Officials said the Washington State Department of Ecology and Health was notified.
An investigation is underway.
