A search is underway for a missing 22-year-old man from Pierce County.

Detectives said Young Gwang Hills was reported missing by his family after failing to return home from a visit to Seattle.

Hills was last seen at about 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, as he drove away from his brother’s apartment on the University of Washington campus. Hills was on his way back to Parkland, where he lives.

According to detectives, at about 6:40 a.m. Saturday Hills called his ex-girlfriend in South Korea and told her he was lost and had taken a wrong exit but didn’t say where he was.

When Hills did not return home, friends used an app to locate his phone. There was a hit in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle, which was also around 6 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities said there has been no activity from Hills’ cellphone, debit card, bank account or social media accounts.

Family said his disappearance is uncharacteristic and concerning.

Hills is described as Asian, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 185 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has a sleeve of tattoos on his lower left arm. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans and a black baseball hat.
