A speeding car is caught on camera soaring several feet in the air and barely missing a Tacoma home.

On Thursday, Tacoma police responded to South Sheridan Avenue and 39th Street around midnight when a car crashed into someone’s yard.

Investigators say the driver ran away from the scene, but a passenger was left behind with non-life-threatening injuries.

KIRO 7 obtained surveillance video showing the car speeding down the street, launching through a roundabout and flipping onto a front yard.

“You can hear the transformer pop because I think he hit the wire over here,” said Kevin Thach.

The car came just a few feet away from Thach’s home. It destroyed their fence, battered their yard, and left a lot of debris.

Thach said the crashed knocked out power to their home, a neighbor’s house and the Safeway across the street.

Police say the passenger of the car was uncooperative and taken to the hospital.

If the driver is found, police say they could face vehicular assault and hit-and-run charges.
