A driver was arrested after three people died in a crash on Monday afternoon on State Route 702
The crash involved two vehicles and happened on SR 702 and 8th Avenue South near Roy before 4:30 p.m., blocking traffic in both directions.
Troopers said three people were killed, one was critically injured and two were in serious condition.
The crash also started a brush fire that burned about 10 acres. Troopers said a power pole was knocked down and the power lines dropped on dry brush and sparked a fire. The fire is now contained.
The driver who allegedly caused the crash was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and three counts of vehicular homicide.
The investigation is ongoing.
