TUKWILA, Wash. — The Westfield Southcenter Mall was evacuated for a minor gas leak Friday morning.
The odor of natural gas was reported by a security guard about 5 a.m. Friday.
The mall in Tukwila doesn’t open until 10 a.m., but security and staff inside were told to leave the building.
Tukwila firefighters say the gas leak, which was from a pilot light left on in a food court stove, was minor.
The mall is being cleared of gas and will open at 10 a.m. as usual.
