SEATTLE — Teachers and parents are holding a “walk-in” at several Seattle schools Thursday morning.
The event was planned by the Seattle Education Association, which says walk-in is part of a larger nationwide movement Thursday to call on public schools to be fully funded.
Activities are planned at 7 a.m. at Garfield and Roosevelt high schools and Hamilton International Middle School.
Organizers said they don't plan to interrupt classes and will rally before the start of the school day.
The teachers, parents and students supporting the walk-in are also being encouraged to wear red as they did last May, when teachers marched into downtown Seattle.
Several teachers plan to speak at the events about concerns over class size and the McCleary decision that requires the state Legislature to fully fund education by 2018.
