A U-Haul truck loaded with the belongings of a Seattle musician who had planned to move to New York with his wife was stolen and the theft was caught on camera.

SEATTLE — Rafael Irisarri and his wife were supposed to move to New York Sunday and had the truck packed and ready to go when it was stolen.

The theft was recorded by a neighbor’s surveillance camera. The timestamp on the video shows it was shortly after 4 a.m. when two men forced the truck’s door open and then hotwired it and took off.

Irisarri said the truck contained at least $50,000 worth of music equipment, his wife's life’s work and their personal belongings.

Irisarri met with KIRO 7 at his Montlake home.  The only things that were not in the truck were the things he didn't pack such as his laptop and some clothes.

“I was just pissed, you know?  I just thought, ‘Man, oh man.’  I was thinking,  ‘Why wasn’t I awake to catch these guys in the act?’”  You know s**t happens and you really can’t do anything about it,” said Irisarri.

Irisarri said his wife has to start her new job on Monday in New York, so they're leaving Tuesday with what few items they do have left.

Seattle police said they are hoping someone sees the surveillance video and knows something.

The case is not the first in which a U-Haul full of belongings was stolen.  On Sunday, a Bellevue family had their things stolen from a truck.  Seattle police said it was recovered in Tacoma Tuesday morning.

Isisarri and his wife are hoping for the same outcome.

Anyone with information is asked to call Seattle police.
