CHICAGO — A bag that was being loaded onto an airplane at Chicago's Midway International Airport exploded Monday afternoon, but there were no injuries, authorities said.
Police responded to a call at the airport shortly before 12:20 p.m. local time, police spokeswoman Karie James told the Chicago Tribune in an email.

The bag was being loaded from the tarmac onto a flight when it detonated, James told the newspaper.
The police department's bomb squad responded, and the scene was being cleared within an hour, the Tribune reported.
