WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Canadian authorities have found what they believe to be the bodies of two suspects who are involved in the deaths of three people in British Columbia, including an American woman and her Australian boyfriend.
According to the Vancouver Sun, the bodies of Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, and Kam McLeod, 19, were found in Gillam, Manitoba. They were found in dense brush near an aluminum boat that is said to be linked to the suspects.
Critical evidence found last week when police discovered items directly linked to the suspects on the shoreline of the Nelson River helped locate the bodies, MacLatchy said. Following that discovery, authorities were able to narrow down the search.
Autopsies have been scheduled to identify the cause of their death.
In July, officials with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in British Columbia identified McLeod and Schmegelsky, as suspects in three deaths in northern British Columbia.
On July 15, authorities found 24-year-old Chynna Noelle Deese, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Lucas Robertson Fowler, of Australia, shot to death along a remote highway.
Days later, on July 19, authorities said they found 64-year-old Leonard Dyck dead about a mile away from the suspects' burning car south of Dease Lake, British Columbia.
