KENNEWICK, Wash. — A child brought in a bag believed to be filled with methamphetamines to school and turned in his parents for having the drug, police said.
The boy brought the bag to a teacher at his elementary school and said he was scared to go home, KMTR reported.
After an interview with a school resource officer, detectives got a warrant and searched the house. Investigators said they found fentanyl pills and other drug paraphernalia.
Daniel Staton O'Leary, 29, and Jennifer Ann Edwards, 29, were arrested and charged with suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, police said.
The child and a sibling were put into Child Protective Services.
"We would like to acknowledge the courage that it took for this child to bring this information to a trusted adult," police said on social media. "Hopefully, this will be the impetus to his parents getting the help they need."
