SAN MARCOS, Texas — A man in a clown costume chased and a grabbed a woman who was walking out of a dormitory at Texas State University on Monday evening, campus police said.

The incident was not reported until Tuesday evening, said Sgt. Rolando Belmares, spokesman for Texas State University police. It happened outside the on-campus housing unit near Bobcat Stadium.

The student was able to break away and run from the clown, Belmares said. She did not need to be taken to the hospital for any injuries.

The clown was wearing a black-and-white striped jumpsuit and a green wig, Belmares said. His face was painted white and black around his eyes. The victim estimated he was about 6 feet 2 inches tall.

Police, who are actively looking for the alleged assailant, are unsure if he is a student, Belmares said.
