OCALA, Fla. — A monocled cobra escaped early Tuesday from a home in Ocala, Florida, police said.
The snake escaped about 3 a.m. from a cage in a home on Northeast 5th Street near Ocala Tuscawilla Park, police said.

The tan and black cobra is highly venomous, officers said.
A resident in the Tuscawilla Park area said police made calls to residents overnight about the missing cobra.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is assisting Ocala police with their investigation.
No other details were given.
Last year, a king cobra escaped from a man's Orlando home and was captured about a month later when a woman found the snake underneath her dryer.
