As holiday shoppers flock to stores and the internet in search of deals, a coupon scam targeting Kohl's customers is making the rounds on social media.
According to Snopes, the latest version of the recurring scam is a Facebook post that falsely claims the retailer is giving away $100 vouchers for the chain's 57th anniversary.
"To get your voucher, you must first answer a few questions," the post reads, prompting users to respond to a survey.
Don't be fooled, Snopes cautioned.
"These types of viral 'coupon' scams often involve websites and social media pages set up to mimic those of legitimate companies," the outlet reported. "Users who respond to those fake offers are required to share a website link or social media post in order to spread the scam more widely and lure in additional victims."
The news came just days after Costco addressed a similar hoax, which falsely promised $75 off a purchase at the discount warehouse chain.
"Despite several posts out there, Costco is NOT giving away $75 coupons," the post read. "While we love our fans and our members, this offer is a SCAM, and in no way affiliated with Costco. Thanks to our fans for letting us know about this recurring hoax!"
The Better Business Bureau refers to the phony offers as "giveaway scams."
"Businesses typically give out small discounts to entice customers," the organization warned shoppers in a 2017 news release. "If the offer seems too good to be true (a $100 voucher or 50% discount), it may be a scam."
